About Sketty Mosque & Community Centre

Welcome to Sketty Mosque & Community Centre, the newest and second-largest mosque in the City & County of Swansea, opening its doors to the community in March 2023. Our facility offers a blend of traditional and modern spaces dedicated to Islamic and social activities.

Our building features a dedicated prayer hall for men, a multipurpose hall, and a dedicated prayer and community hall for women. In addition, we have a kitchen, meeting room, and flexible partition walls within halls that allow us to create four classrooms. The exterior design combines architecture from 1920 to modern-day construction, adorned with an Ionic Dome at the top of the meeting room.

Under the stewardship of the Welsh Islamic Cultural Association Swansea (WICAS), our management team comprises highly educated and professional individuals. Sketty Mosque & Community Centre holds a position of paramount importance within the community, reflecting a deep commitment to fostering a harmonious and inclusive environment.

Our centre plays a crucial role in providing space for religious worship, disseminating Islamic knowledge, and encouraging faith-based interactions that extend beyond the Muslim community, resonating with the wider society. At the core of our mission is a steadfast belief in the vital role of religion in our society.

The board and members of WICAS are dedicated to uniting diverse communities and collaborating for the common good. We envision Sketty Mosque & Community Centre as a beacon of unity, tolerance, and shared values, contributing to the rich tapestry of Swansea's cultural diversity.

Donate to Sketty Mosque

The Masjid relies on public donations to keep it going. Your donations are essential to cover the monthly costs and are used to pay for operating expenses that include utilities (electricity, water, gas, education, maintenance, supplies and salaries). Your generous donations to the house of Allah ensures that we are able to maintain the Masjid and provide key services to the community. You are the reason that Muslims, young and old can use the Masjid as a sanctuary to worship peacefully. Giving Sadaqah is a beautiful and virtuous act of worship and provides the donor rewards even after they pass from this temporary world.

Weekly Reminder

On the authority of Hanzala Usayyidi, who was amongst the scribes of Allah’s Messenger, he said: “I met Abu Bakr. He asked: ‘How are you?’ I replied: ‘Hanzala became a hypocrite.’ He said: ‘Glory be to Allah, what are you saying?’ I said: ‘When we are in the company of Allah’s Messenger, we ponder over Hell-Fire and Paradise as if we are seeing them with our very eyes and when we are away from Allah’s Messenger we attend to our wives, our children, our business; most of these things (pertaining to After-life) slip out of our minds.’ Abu Bakr said: ‘By Allah, I also experience the same.’ So, I and Abu Bakr went to Allah’s Messenger and said to him… Thereupon Allah’s Messenger said: ‘By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if your state of mind remains the same as it is in my presence and you are always busy in remembrance (of Allah), the Angels will shake hands with you in your beds and in your paths but, Hanzala, there is a time for this and a time for that.’ He said this thrice.”
