Sketty Youth Club, an essential part of the Sketty Mosque Community Centre and its youth wing, was founded by Dr. Mahaboob Basha, BEM, with a vision to create a supportive and nurturing environment for the youth of Swansea. Established in March 2020, the club has become a cornerstone for community support, offering a wide range of activities that go beyond the traditional scope of a youth club.
Under Dr. Basha’s leadership, the club has made significant impacts, including the provision of over seven thousand hot meals to children and families during school term breaks, summer, and winter holidays last year. This initiative has benefited over 130 children and 40 families, demonstrating the club's commitment to not only nourishing bodies but also enriching minds.
Besides the lunch club, Sketty Youth Club engages its members in educational activities, visits to local museums, recreation centres, and participation in sports and entertainment events. These activities are designed to foster a sense of belonging, improve academic prospects, and offer cultural enrichment, aligning with the club’s mission to empower youth and steer them towards positive pathways.
Integral to the Sketty Mosque Community Centre, the youth wing stands as a testament to the power of community and the impact of visionary leadership. Sketty Youth Club is not just a place for activities; it's a sanctuary where young individuals grow, learn, and become integral members of their community.
